SPEAKING WITH CHARACTER BLOG - D.O.G. - DEVELOPING OBEDIENCE TO GOD
Welcome to the inaugural blog for Decree Daily. Let me start with a brief introduction explaining why the blog is titled Speaking with Character. Once a quarter I will write a blog vicariously through one of the ten Holy Spirit inspired characters I have used over the years to convey God’s truth, thus the name “Speaking with Character”. This blog’s goal is to impart wisdom and truth from God’s word and to inspire you to decree daily the promises of God over your life and family. I will impart using God's Word and a little humor. Secondly it is also to get you to proclaim our company's aphorism to Decree Daily to Show Love, Release Faith and Give Hope.
Todays character Dr. Rev. Sister Humble Saint will be “speaking”. Dr. Rev. Sister Humble Saint the Blog floor is now yours.
Hello everybody, this is Dr. Rev. Sister Humble Saint I bring you greetings from Pearly Gates, Texas and my church The Pearly Gates Pentecostal, Christian, Evangelical, Covenant, Missionary First and Second Baptist Church of God and Christ, where my husband Rev. Rover Saint and I Pastor. Today I am going to be bringing God’s truth about D.O.G. that is Developing Obedience to God. Before I begin, I want to tell you a little something about me. I am 105 years old and for 75 years I owned The Pearly Gates Puppy Dog Obedience Training School. For 75 years I taught puppy dogs how to be obedient to their masters. I recently retired and sold my school and said to the Lord; Lord I do not know much about anything else other than how to teach puppy dogs how to be obedient to their masters, but if you can use my experience in any way in your kingdom, I am a willing servant.
The Lord said to me, share with everyone who belongs to me that they must spend some time in the D.O.G. Obedience Training School that is the Developing Obedience to God - Obedience Training School. When the Lord shared this with me, I was so excited I just wanted to wag my tail and shout hallelujah!
I just want to take a moment and take you on a walk through the D.O.G., that is Developing Obedience to God Obedience Training School principles. If we are to be true sons and daughters of the King and live the royal life, one full of hope, joy, and purpose we must Develop Obedience to God, and like Jesus be obedient unto death.
Here we go, 75 years ago when I first opened my puppy dog obedience training school, I had three puppy dogs I used for my training, I named one after me Humble and the other two after my sisters Righteous and Willing.
When I would first start my class, I would walk from the back with my puppy dogs walking right behind me, then I would stop halfway to the podium and turn around and put my hand up in the air and say to my puppy dogs. STAY. STAY HUMBLE, STAY RIGHTEOUS, STAY WILLING. So today I just want to start out by saying the first principle to developing obedience to God we must learn to STAY.
Stay Humble, the Bible says in 1 Peter 5:6; therefore, HUMBLE yourselves under the mighty hand of God that He may exalt you in due time. God will not only exalt you he will sustain you and give you victory. Now that should build your hope. It says so right in the Bible, in Psalm 147:6 it says The Lord sustains the HUMBLE…and then right up the street from there it says in Psalm 149:4 For the Lord takes delight in His people; he crowns the HUMBLE with victory. Now that ought to make you want to wag your tail and shout hallelujah.
Stay Righteous, for the irrefutable, infallible word of God says in 1 Peter 3:12, For the eyes of the Lord are on the RIGHTEOUS and his ears are attentive to their prayer…. Yes, Jesus made us righteous before a Holy God, but we must do our part with obedience to right living.
Stay Willing – The living word says in 1 Corinthians 15:58. Therefore my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord., be willing to be a servant of the Lord, serve God, His Church and His people.
So, remember to develop obedience to God we must learn to STAY.
After telling my puppy dogs to stay, I would walk up to the front and my puppy dogs would be sitting out in the aisle, I would raise up my hand again and I would shout RELEASE, and my puppy dogs would come running up and sit right beside me which leads me to my next principle.
To develop obedience to God we must RELEASE. We must release the ways of the world. The Bible says in Romans 12:2 “. …And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
Secondly we must RELEASE doubt and fear, the infallible, irrefutable word of God says in James 1:6. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. We must also Release fear as our word of God says in Isaiah 41:10 Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.
And finally, we must RELEASE self, surrender to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Scriptures says in James 4:7 Subject yourselves therefore to God... and the Word also says God is looking for those who have surrendered to flow mightily through them and show himself strong on their behalf in 2 Chronicles 16:9 For the eyes of Jehovah run to and fro through the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of those whose heart is perfect toward him.
It is this Holy Spirit power that enables us to do all that God requires of us. If we are to develop obedience to God to help us live hopeful and joyful lives, we must learn to RELEASE.
When my puppy dogs Humble, Righteous and Willing got too old I got me three new puppy dogs: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego to use in my school.
One day I was out training my new puppy dogs and I asked my husband Rover. Rover, Rover honey come over and help me train the new puppy dogs, but he would not come help me cause the best show on television was on, I know you know what it was, The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. A couple of weeks later I was with my Mission sisters at Sis. BB’s house, Sis. Busy Body we were going to pray for her till she went from Sis. BB, Sis. Busy Body to Sis. CC, Sis. Convicted Christian and my husband Rover called me on my cellular phone barking about how Shadrach, Meshack and Abednego our new puppy dogs were running around the house and would not listen to him and I told him they are not going to listen to you since you would not help me train them, they o-na-ly listen to their master’s voice. You know what he said? He said I am the king of this castle and if they do not listen to him, he was going to put them outside. I told him do not put my puppy dogs Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego outside, it is too hot out there it is like a…furnace out there. (and all the Bible readers say I get it) It is not their fault they have learned to listen o-na-ly to their master’s voice. Which leads me to our next principle of developing obedience to God.
To develop obedience to God we must listen to God's voice.
If we are to develop obedience to God and be true sons and daughters of the King, we must learn to listen o-na-ly to God, our master’s voice. Not our friends, not our Boo, not Pookie or Ray-Ray. From the very mouth of God, He says in John 10:27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow me.
So, remember to develop obedience to God we must listen O-NA-LY to our master’s voice.
Now Dr. Rev. Sis. Humble Saint knows being obedient is not always easy and that sometimes it can be ruff, ruff, ruff. But I need you to remember that obstacles are just the enemy trying to keep you from developing obedience to God. Can I take you on a walk thru this principle?
Some of the major obstacles to obedience are F.L.E.A.S and T.I.C.K.S.
F.L.E.A.S. – Fighting, Lying, Envy, Arrogance and Selfishness
T.I.C.K.S. – Temper, Immorality, Cheating, Keeping a record of wrongs and Satan.
Come on now, the next time you look yourself in the mirror, tell yourself like I must tell myself sometimes, go ahead and scratch because you know you have some F.L.E.A.S. and T.I.C.K.S.
You know how we get rid of our F.L.E.A.S. and T.I.C.K.S.? We must be washed then dipped. Washed in the blood of The Lamb and dipped in the baptizing pool and to keep F.L.E.A.S. and T.I.C.K.S. at bay we must continue to wash ourselves in the Living Water, the word of God daily.
So remember to develop obedience to God we must get rid of our F.L.E.A.S. & T.I.C.K.S.
As we develop obedience to God, we will then begin to see the rewards of our obedience. Rewards include blessings, favor, and peace just to name a few. Now that ought to make you want to WAG YOUR TAIL AND SHOUT HALLEUJAH!
To conclude, let us take a moment to review, decree, and declare. My brothers and sisters in Christ read aloud.
To Develop Obedience to God I will... STAY. Stay humble, Stay righteous and Stay willing
To Develop Obedience to God I will…RELEASE. Release doubt, Release fear, Release the ways of this world and Release self.
To Develop Obedience to God I will... LISTEN o-na-ly to God, my master’s voice.
To Develop Obedience to God I will... Get rid of my F.L.E.A.S. and T.I.C.K.S.
As I develop obedience to God I will... Reap the rewards and then… I am going to WAG MY TAIL AND SHOUT HALLELUJAH!!
God's Blessings to you and yours,B. A. Cunningham
